Woodward Avenue Dream Cruisers won’t have to contend with traffic delays due to construction, according to a Michigan Department of Transportation spokesman.

MDOT's $4.8 million construction program for Woodward – between 14 Mile Road in Royal Oak and Oakridge Boulevard in Ferndale - will be suspended for two weeks in consideration of the Woodward Dream Cruise on Aug. 17, according Rob Morosi, a communications representative for MDOT.

MDOT expects the suspension process, which begins at 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, to last a couple of days as all traffic control devices are removed and cleanup begins.

"Weather permitting, the intent is to have everything north of Catalpa completed before the suspension starts," Morosi said.

Road crews will return on Aug. 19 to complete the remainder of the project. Motorists may notice some construction north of Catalpa when the project resumes as workers return to install a half dozen American's with Disabilities Act compliant curb ramps, Morosi said.
