I own and operate Burton Orofacial Myology, out of the Liberty School Building in Saline.  I have worked in the dental field for 18 years, with 10 of those years as a dental hygienist.  I have a deep passion for Orofacial Myology, since I needed the direction I provide when I was young.  I sucked my thumb til I was 12 years old and tried many different things to quit. 

The scope of my practice has been outlined by the International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM) to include the following disorders and habits:<br> •&#9;Abnormal non-nutritive sucking habits (thumb finger, pacifier, etc.)<br> •&#9;Other detrimental orofacial habits (nail, hair, lip, cheek biting)<br> •&#9;Abnormal orofacial rest posture problems<br> •&#9;Abnormal swallowing patterns (thrusting of tongue upon swallowing)<br> •&#9;Abnormal functional breathing patterns (after causes of mouth breathing have been addressed)<br> •&#9;Abnormal neuromuscular muscle patterns associated with inappropriate mastication, bolus formation and deglutition (drinking and swallowing of foods and liquids).

My therapy is very unique and I as far as I can tell, I am the only one that provides this type of therapy in the southeastern part of Michigan and Northern part of Ohio.
