Winter Beer Fest returns for its fourth year to the Royal Oak Music Theatre on Saturday, Jan. 26. Presented by Westborn Market, beer lovers will be able to sample over 100 craft beers from around the globe, across the state, and down the street, while enjoying beer-inspired cuisine and live music by Detroit acoustic duo Reggie and Nick. The event runs from 8 p.m. to midnight, and those ages 21 and older are welcome to attend. Tickets are just $40 in advance ($45 at the door) and include 25 beer samplings. A V.I.P. ticket is also available this year, with an exclusive tasting hour at 7 p.m. V.I.P. tickets are $70 in advance/$75 at the door. Westborn Market in Berkley will host its Meet Michigan Again! taste festival this weekend. The event, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the grocery chain's Woodward Avenue location, will feature free samples from dozens of Michigan-based food companies, including wines, cheeses, jams and more. The following are highlights from reports from the Berkley Public Safety Department since June 22: A man was arrested on a charge of retail fraud at 2:52 p.m. June 25 at Westborn Market after a manager reported seeing the man leave the store with a bag full of groceries. According to the responding officer's report, the manager said he confronted the suspect as the man walked toward his vehicle and asked whether he had a receipt. The suspect said he did not, the manager reported. The manager said the man attempted to close his car door and back out, but was stopped; both men returned to the store and Public Safety was called, according to the report.
