The eighth annual Birmingham Restaurant Week kicks off next week, bringing high-class dining to Birmingham residents, as well as visitors who want to experience Birmingham's renowned chefs and quality food. There are 20 restaurants participating in this year's event, sponsored by the Principal Shopping District. This year's three newcomers — Social Kitchen, Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse and Tallulah Wine Bar — will join 17 other eateries offering $15 lunch menus and $30 dinners. Most meals includes an appetizer and a dessert. Birmingham Restaurant Week 2013 runs Jan. 28-Feb. 1 and Feb. 4-8. Owner Bob Higgins, whose family hails from Erin, TN, is asking the Liquor Control Committee and the Royal Oak City Commission for permission to rename the eatery Bobby's Nashville Bar and Grill. Higgins also hopes to capitalize on the popularity of country music and food by updating the menu and offering live music.
