Berkley Home Expo Vendors Hope Early Spring Translates into Business
Amid indictions the housing slide has finally abated, local businesses prepare to greet customers at the city's 6th annual Home Improvement Expo this Saturday.
The sun was shining as Karen Gallagher walked around the 1,200 square foot “Berkley Charmer” on Tyler Street, dreaming of the possibilities — if she pulled the trigger and bought the 1924 bungalow on this tree-lined street in Berkley. “Whenever they list a house as a ‘charmer,’ I know that it will probably need some TLC,” the 26-year-old from Clawson mused. “I've looked for enough homes by now to know that, at best, this one needs a new roof in the next couple of years.” Gallagher, a nurse at William Beaumont Hospital in neighboring Royal Oak, says she has been trying to find a home that might not be turnkey, but isn’t in need of rehabilitation, either. The Paint Source did indeed make an appearance! After Rob talked with you, we were curious to see if there were any vendor spaces left, and sure enough, there were!
