It's students' lucky day: A combination of snow and ice that began falling Sunday has extended their weekend by a day. A notice on the Berkley School District Facebook page early Monday morning informed families in Berkley and Huntington Woods of the news. The Berkley School District is closed, today, January 28, 2013, due to inclement weather. Avery Child Care school-year programs are closed. Tyndall year-round child care programs are open. Kids Zone is available at Tyndall for a fee. The district is among more than 600 in Metro Detroit that closed Monday due to the inclement weather and slick road conditions, according to clickondetroit.com. Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Southeastern Michigan

Expect snow and a mix of freezing rain Sunday night and into Monday morning in Berkley and Huntington Woods.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for much of southeastern Michigan, including Oakland County. The advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. Sunday night until 6 a.m. Monday morning. According to the NWS, Michigan can expect to see snow showers change to a mix of snow and freezing rain around midnight. Air temperatures are then expected to rise above freezing by 3 a.m., which will then support another changeover to rain.  Ice accumulations of up to a tenth of an inch are possible, mainly on elevated surfaces. Snowfall accumulations of 1 to 3 inches will be possible in some areas, including Berkley and Huntington Woods. According to the NWS, here's what to watch out for:
