Gas Prices Fall 4 Cents From Last Week, AAA Reports

Cheapest gas price in Huntington Woods is $3.59 a gallon, according to Michigan Gas Prices.com.

AAA Michigan is reporting that gasoline prices have fallen roughly 4 cents during the past week to a statewide average of about $3.65 per gallon. The auto club said Monday that the average price at the pump is about 28 cents per gallon less than last year at this time. Of the cities it surveys, AAA Michigan found the cheapest price for self-serve unleaded fuel is in the Marquette area, at about $3.55 a gallon. The highest average is in the Ann Arbor area, at $3.68 a gallon. According to Michigan Gas Prices.com, the BP at 26001 Woodward Avenue in Huntington Woods has gas listed at $3.59 per gallon. The average price for a gallon of gas is slowly starting to fall after hitting a seasonal peak of $3.87 on Sept. 14, according to the Wall Street Journal. Gas Prices Dip Before Fourth of July

The average cost for a gallon of regular gas in Metro Detroit was $3.47 on Monday morning, according to AAA.

Fourth of July travelers are getting a break this year with gas prices taking a dip before the holiday. According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular gas in Metro Detroit was $3.47 on Monday morning, down from $3.57 a week ago and $3.77 one year ago. That's good news for drivers who plan to hit the road over the holiday travel period, which AAA defines as Tuesday through Sunday. "AAA projects 42.3 million Americans will journey 50 miles or more from home during the Independence Day holiday weekend, a 4.9 percent increase over the 40.3 million people who traveled last year," AAA reports. Fuel prices around Berkley and Huntington Woods have stayed consistent for yet another week. Still higher than the national average of $3.51, the average price this week for a gallon of unleaded gasoline in Metro Detroit is $3.76, according to Monday’s AAA Fuel Report, while local stations are weighing in around $3.87. The Metro Detroit average is consistent with not only the last week, but the same time last year. The average evened out after the area saw its peak price of gasoline at $4.24 a gallon last May.
