Stephen Gottlieb Music Festival Features Tovah Feldshuh, Fifty Amp Fuse

The week-long celebration of Jewish music and musicians begins May 9 at The Berman Center for the Performing Arts in West Bloomfield.

Broadway and television star Tovah Feldshuh and popular local band Fifty Amp Fuse headline this year's Stephen Gottlieb Music Festival, held May 9-19, at The Berman Center for the Performing Arts in West Bloomfield. Feldshuh performs May 12 in the radio-style play, “Witches of Lublin,” set in 18th century Poland, and the band is featured in “Rock of Ages: The Jewish Side of Pop Music,” with award-winning music journalist Gary Graff on May 18. The festival also includes whimsical, introspective interpretations about life from local artist, singer and songwriter Ethan Daniel Davidson, the fun and interactive energy of Marc Rossio in a family concert, and the Jewish “crossover music” of Mikey Pauker. Celebrity Rabbi Shmuley Boteach Coming to the Berman

"Bad things happen to good people because we continue to find meaning in suffering," says the spiritual leader and author, who will discuss the role of religion in coping with national tragedies Feb. 11.

In response to Rabbi Harold Kushner comes Rabbi Shmuley Boteach. The question of "why bad things happen to good people" was tackled by Kushner in a bestselling novel, and in the wake of recent national tragedies, Boteach offers a different answer. Next month, Boteach will lecture at the Berman Center for the Performing Arts in West Bloomfield on his new book, The Fed-Up Man of Faith (Gefen Publishing House) Feb. 11. Jewish Music Festival Kicks off at Berman Center
