A woman was physically unharmed but her purse was taken by a man wearing a dark, hooded shirt early Thursday outside the Blarney Stone Pub.
The Berkley Public Safety Department is investigating an armed robbery early Thursday morning outside the Blarney Stone Pub. The victim was physically unharmed but her purse was taken by a man wearing a dark, hooded shirt, BPS Detective Sgt. Michael Crum said Friday. "(The suspect was) parked on Princeton around 1 a.m.," he said. "If anybody saw anything suspicious, they should contact us." Crum could not immediately release further details because of the ongoing investigation. Manager Bo Burton said he can't recall a similar incident since he began working at the Blarney Stone in 1995. The Berkley Public Safety Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred Monday night on Greenfield Road near Webster, BPS Deputy Director Robert North confirmed Tuesday. At approximately 9 p.m., the suspects talked their way into a resident's home, which they ransacked before leaving with stolen items, North said. No one was injured in the incident, he said. The Oakland County Sheriff's Office was called upon to provide K-9 tracking after the robbery, but the search was fruitless, according to an incident report. Police say man killed himself after robbing a Berkley woman of her purse then fleeing Tuesday morning.
A man suspected of an armed robbery in Berkley shot himself with a gun inside of his vehicle after a half-hour standoff with police on Eight Mile Road, near Interstate 75, in Detroit. The 50-year-old Detroit man, driving a blue Dodge Durango, was chased by police Tuesday morning after allegedly robbing a 30-year-old Berkley woman of her purse as she was walking to her car. The robbery took place shortly after 10 a.m. on a side street near the 12 Mile and Greenfield intersection, according to Berkley Deputy Chief Robert North.
