MDEQ Declares Air Quality Action Day
High temperatures, humidity and 'ample sunshine' may drive up ozone levels Friday.
A sunny Friday with temperatures climbing into the upper 80s has triggered the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality to issue an Air Quality Action Day for southeast Michigan. "Air quality is expected to erode as southerly winds, increasing temperatures/humidity, and ample sunshine combine to make elevated ozone formation likely," MDEQ spokesperson Jim Haywood wrote in a press release Thursday. People and businesses should avoid these activities on Air Action days: Everyone is encouraged to car pool, use their bicycles or walk, and delay or combine errands when possible.
