The five candidates running in the newly created 9th Congressional District met Tuesday for a candidates forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters Oakland Area and Patch. Democrat Sander Levin, Republican challenger Don Volaric, Green Party candidate Julia Williams, Libertarian candidate Jim Fulner and U.S. Taxpayers candidate Les Townsend participated in the forum. The 9th Congressional District covers parts of southern Oakland and Macomb counties, including Berkley, Ferndale, Huntington Woods, Royal Oak, Clinton Township and St. Clair Shores. The League of Women Voters Oakland Area and Patch will co-sponsor a candidate forum for the 9th Congressional district on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 7 p.m. at the Madison Heights City Hall. The forum will feature the two candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives, Democrat Sander Levin and Republican Don Volaric. The 9th Congressional district covers Berkley and Huntington Woods as well as other parts of southern Macomb and Oakland counties. Madison Heights City Hall is located at 300 W. 13 Mile Rd.
