Bill in all his wisdom typed out this comparison:Yet the Black Panthers setup shop during electionsRead More to intimidate white voters and nobody so much as blinks an eye. Philadelphia, "The city of brotherly love", as long as you vote for the brother. ===================================== Right, two idiots pranced in front of cameras of the press in a district that the election before had seventeen voters for John McCain. Wow, you just may be the “intelligence” the KKK is looking for. You live near York?
Bill April 24, 2014 at 12:56 pm
Two idiots ? I'm sure you'd go down to west philly and have the balls to walk past them and callRead More them idiots. And about 2 seconds later they'd knock your teeth out with the night sticks they were carrying.

People get angry at this but it's OK for 100 illegals to gather at storefronts on Horseblock Road.

Now that is something. Imagine how big this baby will be in a couple of years. He probably won'tRead More even fit through a regular door!
Alison McArty April 24, 2014 at 11:35 am
Sunny do you have any scientific information whatsoever to back up your asinine comment?

Thank you Alison I was thinking the same thing....

And the Archdiocese chooses to keep parish corporations (are people too) like this open and closeRead More the smaller, humbler parishes whose priests actually serve their parishioners' true spiritual needs. WWFD (What Would Francis Do)?
Sue Czarnecki April 24, 2014 at 11:26 am
Another big black mark on the Catholic Church. I wonder how many more parishioners will acceptRead More & live with these crimes without leaving for another religion or just give up altogether?
DELandis April 24, 2014 at 12:22 pm
Ms Czarnecki, even you must live with the crime as it has already occurred, but I think the majorityRead More of Parishoners won't accept it especially if found guilty. I'm not defending the man, but he is entitled to his day in court. I also believe, even if convicted, most won't give up leave or give up their religion, as everyone should know, there are evil and corrupt people everywhere! So the best choice is to gather together the good amongst us and drive the wrongful ones away, not try to hide!

I can guarantee that he became erect and ejaculated when he killed the young lady. This wasRead More something he was enjoying! And to all the posters who comment that it was justified, you are the same as this sick old man.
mystuy April 24, 2014 at 12:54 pm
Oh, so a guy who leaves the safety of his home to hunt down, effectively, another teenager withRead More marketing in the press that is not necessarily "homecoming king" adjacent deserves to be shot. Wow. At least, I do mean at the very least, this man was defending himself in his home. These teens came to him, in his home. Zimmerman had to walk a while toward the "danger" and in so doing instigated a situation that turned deadly.
mystuy April 24, 2014 at 01:12 pm
Saint Trayvon? Really? But it is okay to make two teens who deliberately broke the law by enteringRead More uninvited and violating someone's home seem, well, not so bad...just homecoming king and queen-worthy kids just having a bit of mischief until that mean old grumpy man killed them. Pretty "saintly" handling by the media in that instance. So undeserved and so unfortunate the entire mess.

Northville spans between Oakland County and Wayne County. I think 8 Mile Road / Baseline road isRead More the border?
David Anderson April 24, 2014 at 08:43 am
A third of the ranking is dependent on the school's student participation in AP or IB. This is theRead More only indicator, according to the study, of college readiness. Seems too simplistic to me. What about those students who are not enrolled in IB and AP who go on to college. Isn't there a way to track college (or other post-high school) graduation back to the high school from where the student matriculated? Wouldn't this be a "better" indicator of college readiness?
Ahmed Ismail April 24, 2014 at 10:45 am
The one number that seems to skew this report in my mind is that the percentage of students takingRead More an AP exam is taken into consideration. How many students take the exam only indicates how much the school "pushes" the kids into AP classes, even if they really don't belong in an AP class. The real separator in the schools is the percentage of students who actually "pass" the AP exam. I understand some are even paying for the exams for the students now. For many schools, this "pass" number is incredibly low. Add that to the fact that a "pass" on an AP exam is only a 3 out of 5 score when most of the selective universities only accept a "4" or higher as a passing in order to give AP credit and you have a true picture of how the schools are trying to play the AP system just to increase their rankings on this list.

Madam Secretary how'd that Arab Spring work out for you in Egypt? How'd that reset with Russia andRead More Putin work out for you and your boss? And most notable how'd that screw up in Benghazi where 4 Americans died as a result of your inept attention to detail occurred? Well I Guess you could be admired for flying around the World for 4 years and accomplishing... well .. nothing all but frequent Flier Miles all the while bring back that '70s style with the Pantsuit. When asked exactly what she has accomplished during her stint as a carpetbagger Senator & ourRead More least "carbon neutral" Secretary of State, Madame Clinton responded "what difference, at this point, does it make?" That was after she was fired from the Watergate investigation for lying, and after she attacked every woman who was sexually assaulted by her philandering husband, and after she whispered into Sean Smith's & Ty Wood's parents' ears "don't worry, I'll personally make sure we arrest the man responsible for that despicable video." I'm sure I'll be called a "war on women" hating misogynist by the Libiots too enraged to notice I'm a woman & who are so intellectually dishonest they refuse to admit the real misogynist is Bill CLinton. But hey, as long as the boot licking Main Stream Media still drools over Killary, what difference does it make?

this "to me" is not funny, the swat teams are used for serious issues, hostage taking,Read More etc. to have a swat team called to a home behind a video game is stupid, these swat members are trained to save lives, etc. to be called to a home behind a video game is not funny, what happens if a REAL call comes in and swat is needed there, I hope they catch the idiot that called swat and he gets what he/she deserves

with caller ID they should be able to point to the caller. Sorry but an out of state telephoneRead More number should be a tip off.

J. W. MacMahon April 24, 2014 at 11:44 am
You cannot offer education to any person who has not had the foundation of paternal guidanceRead More beginning at birth. The maturation of the human entity revolves around initial care as an infant which means communication both oral and by tactile sensation. NURSING an infant is one of the MOST importatnt things that may be offered as a beginning point. Any amount of the process is good, but continuing for the better part of a year is best. TALKING to the infant is also paramount in awakening the receptiveness of the brain as the eyes develop and begin to truly see. Show and demonstrate any and all things. And continue through the pre-teen years. When ANY child is prepared in these ways he or she will be READY to begin secondary schooling and on into the college level and become a resposible, productive AMERICAN. Do as I did. Finish high school. Go to college & get a degree (I paid for myself). Be RESPONSIBLE for yourself. AND Be a GOOD PARENT.. PEPARE your child. THAT is YOUR JOB!!! And THANKS to my parents!!! A convicted killer went on an hour-long tirade in which he blamed others for his fate during his sentencing Monday before Judge John Hulsing, who threatened to silence him with duct tape. (Screenshot: WZZM video)
Lee Jacobsen April 23, 2014 at 04:12 am
Duct tape keeps the world together. Both of those low lifes deserved duct tape, and a lot moreRead More misconfort. We always seem to forget the victims. Both killers should be hung from their necks with duct tape....they don't deserve life.
K. Scott April 23, 2014 at 08:44 am
Silence is golden. Duct tape is silver.
Mr Rogers April 23, 2014 at 11:40 am
I'd give the ofender a choice: duct tape or stun belt. (I think a normal person would just keepRead More quiet. But then again, we're not dealing with normal people here.)
Everyday Mathematics is just one of the programs that makes a heck of a lot of $ off of the millions of textbooks sold to schools that teach to the 'Core.' The Common Core isn't just restricting for teachers & students, it's lining people's pockets.
Jennifer April 24, 2014 at 12:15 pm
And it is not true that the standards do not specify methods. Read Gary's post above. He says itRead More better.
CowDung April 24, 2014 at 12:20 pm
Gary's post is full of falsehoods.
CowDung April 24, 2014 at 12:22 pm
"Agreements or addenda" are not part of the Common Core. Again, if states are doing theirRead More own thing by adding stuff or agreeing to do something different, it isn't Common Core.
The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld Michigan's ban on affirmative action in college admissions.
Racer Boy April 23, 2014 at 02:56 pm
It's how a democracy works. The Supreme Court has clarified what rights the State's have. If U of MRead More wants more diversity, just lsimply ower their overall entrance standards. Maybe a 2.3 GPA would satisfy those that think personal achievement shouldn't matter. Then you would end up with a school like Wayne State University that showcases their diversity with a 4-year graduation rate of 9.7%....that's right....9.7%!!! That's what artificially achieved diversity gets you.
Love All April 23, 2014 at 03:10 pm
Liars figure,, and figures lie. You can make statistics say whatever you want them to say. The onlyRead More variable is which side is using the stats. It is well known that Universities like UM do not admit every single freshman that applies. Only a biased, myopic view of race would lead one to believe that not using affirmative action will now see every last white freshman that applies, accepted. Seriously people,,, you cannot legislate or vote in discrimination under the guise of "states rights". The ban on gay marriage in Michigan WILL be overturned.
cookiepro2 April 23, 2014 at 04:06 pm
Regardless of affirmative action, U of M will do what it needs to do to maintain its academicRead More ranking. It's not going to endanger its brand name, so to speak. Its funding depends on its reputation and its sizable materially successful alumni base. I have no beef with the recruited star athletes either, they are excellent at what they do, and bring in tremendous revenue and fans, think of it as a different kind of intelligence, no less to be respected. Graduate school where U of M excels, IMO, will never be accused of letting anyone in just because of race...there are the GRE, LSAT, MCAT , GMAT tests, very competitive; you've got to have the right stuff.

Netflix is hands down the best deal going, and it has been a bargain for YEARS. I guess theRead More nonsensical whiners who complain about a long-delayed, $2 a MONTH increase are worried it will cost them a (partial) SINGLE LATTE. Utterly ridiculous.

FOR THOSE WHO LIKE AMAZON PRIME OVER NETFLIX: Here's an interesting article from today (23 Apr 2014)Read More about how Amazon Prime just got HBO to stream at least some of its older content, plus "HBO GO," to Amazon's new Fire TV box, thereby making NetFlix upset because NetFlix (nor any other streaming service, including HULU) has never been able to get any HBO content; and so Amazon has scored a real coup! Sorry, Autistic boy, but there are a multitude of crimes here. These so called 'friends' abused youRead More terribly ~ called 'bullying', & that alone cannot be tolerated. Then, there is animal cruelty involved, another terrible crime, plus, harassment of all kinds, leudness, & who knows what else. These 'friends' need to be charged & made aware of the seriousness of their deeds, punished accordingly & helped through proper mental councelling.
