  1. The Jewish faithful will observe Yom Kippur, a holy day of atonement, beginning the evening of Friday, Sept. 13, and ending the evening of Saturday, Sept. 14.
  2. Les Misérables plays through Sept. 29 at the Baldwin Theatre in downtown Royal Oak. Show time is 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday; 2 p.m. Sunday.
  3. The DIY Street Fair and Funky Ferndale Art Fair will be held Friday, Sept. 13, through Sunday, Sept. 15, throughout downtown.
  4. Open skating will be available at the Berkley Ice Arena noon-1:50 p.m. Friday, 7-8:50 p.m. Saturday and 5-6:50 p.m. Sunday. The cost is $5 for adults and $4 for kids 12 and younger; skate rental is $3.
  5. Greenfield Presbyterian Church will host the Bring-a-Friend Picnic featuring pony rides, a petting zoo, karaoke, games prizes and more from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15. The cost is $5 or $10 for a family.
