Hometown Holiday Lights Parade Committee Seeks Help

Marchers to carry banners, folks to prevent gaps from developing, donors and committee members are needed for the beloved Berkley event Dec. 3.

The committee is seeking help – in the form of volunteers and donations – with putting on the annual Berkley tradition.

The parade, which will take place starting at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 3, needs marchers to carry banners, folks to keep marchers in step so gaps don't develop, donors and committee members.

Each group that sends volunteers who fulfill their duties and complete the parade will receive a small monetary contribution, committee member Deb Canto wrote in an e-mail to Berkley Patch.

"Donations are key," Canto added. "We need about $9,000 to put on the parade each year. While we do appreciate the sponsorships from our business participants, VERY VERY MUCH, it's the $2, $5 and $10 donations from the residents that really add up. Actually, if every household chipped in $2 per year, we'd have it made."

For those who don't have spare cash, time and helping hands are appreciated as well, according to Canto, who said new committee members are always welcome.
