“The nice thing about the film is that is going to be sold to raise funds to build a permanent World War II monument at ” at 13 Mile Road and Woodward Avenue, Downey said in May.

The monument would include all Michigan servicemen and women who fought for the United States during World War II. The monument also is expected to pay tribute to individuals who contributed on the home front during the war. In addition, a Walk of Honor is planned for the monument, with members of the public purchasing bricks to line the path leading up to the monument. Bricks will contain names of people, organizations, companies and more as requested by the purchaser.

Monetary donations for the project are accepted online at www.honorflightmichigan.com or checks can be made payable to Honor Flight Michigan and sent to 10734 Borgman, Huntington Woods, MI 48070. Forms for memorial donations are also available on its website.
