The Basics: 2012 Ford Arts Beats & Eats Festival

Find out about admission, street closures and more during the event that runs from Aug. 31 to Sept. 3 in Royal Oak; stay tuned to Berkley Patch for more information.

With the annual just one month away, the city of Royal Oak is ironing out the event's final touches. In the meanwhile, here are the basics of the festival that runs Aug. 31-Sept. 3.

Admission:

  • Free on Friday before 5 p.m.; Saturday, Sunday and Monday before 10 a.m., Saturday and Sunday after 11 p.m., and Monday after 9 p.m.
  • At all other times, cost is $3 to those older than 2.

Street Closures:

Beginning Aug. 29 at 6 p.m., the following streets will be closed:

  • Washington - 2nd St. to Walker Crawford
  • 6th St. - Main to Lafayette
  • 5th St. - Center to Washington
  • 4th St. - Main to Lafayette
  • Center - 3rd St. to 7th St.

Beginning Aug. 30 at 6 p.m., the following streets will be closed:

  • Washington - Walker Crawford to Lincoln
  • 7th St. - Main to Washington

Parking

  • 11,000 parking spaces will be available for festival and city of Royal Oak patrons.
  • A location will be offered for more than 2,000 bicycles to park.

Entertainment

  • Family Days for children on the autism spectrum
  • Deaf Art Festival
  • Soft Rock 105.1 'Calls for Kids'
  • Zumba-thon Celebration
  • Metro PCS USA Basketball Dream Tour

The Royal Oak festival will feature more than 150 musical artists, including Mayer Hawthorne, The Sights, Travis Tritt, The Guess Who, R.E.O. Speedwagon, G. Love & Special Sauce, Morris Day & The Time, Annabelle Road, Stewart Francke .
