Public Meeting Set Tonight to Prepare for Berkley Intersection Construction

Information regarding the construction project that will close the intersection of 12 Mile and Coolidge will be announced tonight at City Hall.

The intersection at 12 Mile and Coolidge in Berkley will be rebuilt this summer, and city officials want to make sure all residents and business owners understand the process beforehand. A public meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. today at .

Anyone interested is invited to attend and ask questions. At the meeting, attendees will learn about the scope, schedule, closures and detours associated with the project.

The brick pavers at the intersection are crumbling and popping out of place in some spots.

In January, , which would entail repaving the intersection with concrete. The city will pay the rest, using $150,000 from the city's Major Street Fund for the project.

How it may affect you

The project is tentatively set to begin in June and will last through a majority of the summer, according to the city of Berkley website. The goal is to complete a substantial amount of the roadwork in August to reopen the intersection to traffic.
