Berkley Football Player Veldo Funwie Signs With Walsh University

He will play defensive end for the Division II school in North Canton, OH.

Berkley High School varsity football player Veldo Funwie recently signed his National Letter of Intent to play with Walsh University in North Canton, OH.

The senior will play defensive end for the Division II school under new head coach Ted Karras Jr.

"Veldo Funwie was a three-year varsity starter, playing on the defensive line. He made All-League Honorable Mention for his senior season and was a captain," BHS assistant football coach Ki’erre Gaut said. "Veldo finished his senior season with over 50 tackles and nine sacks.

"Veldo was always considered a force on the football field and always had to be accounted for when playing every team on the schedule," Gaut said. "He is currently preparing physically to be prepared for college football, and is looking forward to reporting to mandatory practice in August."
