Berkley Dads' Club Filling Rosters for Baseball Season

Storied volunteer organization is accepting online and mail-in registration for players in T-ball through 16 years old.

For decades the Berkley Dads' Club has been at the helm of one of the most storied and longest running youth baseball programs in the area.

This year, the tradition continues.

"Kids can sign up online or by mail right now," Berkley Dads' Club Secretary Bob La Fountain said. "They just have to go to our website and sign up or download the form and mail it in. It's that easy."

The cost of playing baseball this season is $70, with an additional $50 fee for raffle tickets that can be sold to recoup that cost, La Fountain said.

"The leagues are open to anyone in the ," La Fountain said. "And there are leagues for T-ball all the way through 16 years old."

There is also a $1,000 scholarship available, the Dave Barber Award, to the 16-year-old player who best exemplifies sportsmanship, respect for his teammates, game officials and the opposition.

La Fountain said more than 500 kids are expected to be a part of the program this season, with the official Opening Day on June 2, although games actually begin in May.
