Registration Deadline Nears for Berkley High School Military Appreciation Day

A daylong event will honor both current members of the military and veterans.

A news release:

On Friday, Nov. 8, students in the Berkley High School United States History classes along with faculty will be honoring men and women of the military. The day will be filled with entertainment, good food and great conversations at Berkley High School, 2325 Catalpa.

The event is an all-day affair for active duty members and veterans. Starting at 8 a.m., members of the military will have the chance to meet each other during the 'military members only' coffee in the BHS Auditorium lobby. By 9 a.m., all guests will be escorted into the BHS Auditorium for opening ceremonies and will be entertained by the talented students at BHS. State Representative Ellen Cogen-Lipton will also be in attendance, and will address the crowd.

Conversations follow in the BHS Collaborative Center, where guests will have the chance to share their stories with BHS students over breakfast. The morning's events will conclude by 11:45 a.m.

Guests are also welcome to stay for the afternoon session, beginning at 12 noon with lunch. After lunch, the day continues with additional opportunities to share stories with small groups of students. The afternoon's events will end by 3 p.m.

Any active or retired member of the military are invited to :register to participate online. The deadline to register is Monday, Nov. 4. The site includes the event agenda, instructions for military members, and location/contact information.
