Preview: All-Day Kindergarten, Schools of Choice on Tonight's Berkley School Board Meeting Agenda

School district officials are scheduled to recognize standouts for Scholastic Art Competition and get an update on budget, negotiations and technology.

All-day kindergarten, Schools of Choice admissions and recognition of students and community members top the agenda for tonight's Berkley  meeting.

Highlights from tonight's agenda:

  • adopting an "all-day free" kindergarten program for the 2012-13 school year, which allows administrative judgment and discretion for parental choice for half-day kindergarten and Young 5s programming?
  • approval to admit up to 145 Schools of Choice students for Oakland County residents in grades K-5 at , and and elementaries for the 2012-13 school year
  • approval of the admission of not more than 15 out-of-district students in the 2012-13 school year to the Scholars Program requirements
  • board recognition of Scholastic Art Competition winners, as well as Pete Kelly and Julie Melrose.
  • a report on the state of technology in Berkley curriculum
  • budget and negotiations update
  • reports from the board's student representative as well as from legislative, committee, conference and Berkley Education Foundation representative.
