'Polynesian Party' to Raise Money for La Salette

La Salette's April 28 party is sure to appeal to island-goers and sports fans—all for a good cause.

Tickets are on sale now for Our Lady of La Salette’s “Polynesian Party” auction this month.

This annual fundraising tradition with a tropical twist is in its 13th year and is still going strong, according to Juli Mulcahy, who runs La Salette’s publicity. This year, the money raised will benefit the parish and a portion of the proceeds will help .

“Our goal is $25,000. The funds raised go to our general fund (and) this year, we are hoping to take a big chunk out of the bill for fixing the school boiler,” she said.

The event runs 7-11 p.m. April 28, at the Father Landry Center inside the school. Tickets cost $25 before Friday, April 27 or $35 at the door. Tables of eight are also available for $190.

The Polynesian-style party will feature beer, wine, soda, appetizers and desserts. There will also be silent and live auctions, as well as games.

Guests with an island flare are sure to love the party, but sports fans might also cash in big at the function.

Mulcahy says the auction will include sports items like Tigers and Red Wings Tickets, golf lessons, and a Henrik Zetterberg autographed hockey stick. And they are still gathering more sports paraphernalia and prizes.

Other auction items include a Kings Island/Marriott stay, a Saks beauty party, a beer brewing session, guitar lessons and several “experience” parties.

There’s still much more in the making, too, and Mulcahy says they are looking for more people to get involved. “We would love to receive Lions tickets, sports memorabilia, and a vacation stay and are still accepting donations and taking names for volunteering.”
