School Board Agenda: MEAP Report, Recognitions and More

The Berkley Board of Education meets on a new superintendent and other matters, starting at 7 o'clock tonight.

, the will consider a variety of topics at its regularly scheduled meeting tonight, including:

MEAP report: Mary Beth Fitzpatrick, director of Curriculum, Technology, Assessment and Grants, will present the district’s results from the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP). The presentation will highlight the student scores for 2011. Fitzpatrick will also show a comparison between this year’s and last year’s scores as reported by MDE, along with a review of the overall state assessment program. This year’s scores are of particular significance due to the drastic change in scores in all Michigan schools. Across the state, students and schools who have traditionally scored high, now have scores much lower than past years due to the more rigorous benchmarking.

Recognitions: A local Eagle Scouts as well as DECA competition finalists will be honored.

Hurley Turf replacement: The school board will vote on a $87,900 contract for “general construction” as a component of the $305,000 Hurley Turf Replacement Project and AstroTurf project.

The board will also get an update on budget and personnel issues.
