Holiday Concert Promotes Spirit of Goodwill in Berkley

The community is invited to hear the Anderson Middle School choir and Berkley High School a cappella choir perform Monday evening at Berkley First United Methodist Church.

The public is invited to enjoy a holiday concert Monday evening that aims to spread goodwill throughout the community as part of the Berkley Rotary Club's anti-bullying partnership with the Berkley School District.

The Anderson Middle School choir and the Berkley High School a cappella choir will perform at 7 p.m. at Berkley First United Methodist Church with refreshments served after the concert.

"I’m pleased that our Berkley Rotary Club has partnered with the school system on an anti-bullying project," Berkley Rotary Club president Paul Benson wrote in a letter Sunday to Berkley Patch. "Perhaps the one child we reach out to in this project will make the difference to save a life or lives. This anti-bullying joint project is much more important than I ever thought it would be when it first started."

Benson wrote following a school shooting Friday in Newtown, CT, in which 20 children were killed. The concert Monday is an opportunity for the Berkley community to unite and get back to normal in the wake of the tragedy, he wrote.

"On behalf of our entire Berkley Rotary family, I wish everyone the best of health and as much happiness possible this holiday season," Benson added.
