Area Legislators to Speak on School Funding

Event will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Seaholm High School in Birmingham.

will be holding a legislative forum at 7 p.m. tonight in the auditorium of , where elected representatives from Birmingham and the surrounding municipalities will be on hand to answer the tough questions about school funding and Gov. Rick Snyder's proposed $470 per pupil cut.

At the meeting will be state Reps. Chuck Moss (R-Birmingham), Lisa Brown (D-West Bloomfield) and Rudy Hobbs (D-Lathrup Village), as well as state Sens. Vincent Gregory (D-Southfield) and John Pappageorge (R-Troy), who represent Huntington Woods and Berkley, respectively.

According to principal, Embekka Thompson, the district is hoping to pack the house tonight.

"It does not matter what side of the aisle you are on, we all have a common goal of wanting our students/children to be prepared for their future and competitive in a global society," Thompson said.
