Four Local Places for Spring Break Fun With the Kids

Sticking around for spring break this year? Here are four places Berkley and Huntington Woods families can head to for special activities.

Spring break is in session and for families staying in town this year, there’s plenty to do around the area.

Here are a few places to check out for some activities and events for spring breakers looking to have some fun and make memories in their own backyard:

Huntington Woods Library

Stop in at the for various themed sessions this week, running from 1-2:30 p.m. Here’s what’s going on:

  • Tuesday: Learn to be a Fashion Designer
  • Wednesday: Create your own Graphic Novel
  • Thursday: Library Scavenger Hunt

Berkley Community Center

Spring Break Vacation Camp through offers day camps from 8:45 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended camp sessions beginning at 7:30 a.m. and running until 6 p.m. Kids can bring a bag lunch and come dressed to play outside. T-shirts for group identification cost $5. Here’s what’s planned:

  • Tuesday: U of M Nature Center & IMAX
  • Wednesday: Theatre workshop and swimming
  • Thursday: Survivor games and bowling

Huntington Woods Parks & Recreation

Spring and summer activities at  are kicking it into high gear with T-ball for kindergarten and first-graders happening now and sign-up for golf, yoga and many more activities opening up. Drop by the center for the full brochure and to sign up. Or call the Rec Center at 248-541-3030.

Detroit Zoo

Make a trip to the Detroit Zoo this week and use Berkley’s online discount program to benefit the Berkley Parks and Recreation programming. The new Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition opened last week. Visit berkleymich.org for details or call the zoo at 248-541-5717.
