U.S. Rep. Sander Levin Remarries

The Democrat incumbent, who is running to represent Berkley and Huntington Woods in the 9th Congressional District, wed Pamela Cole, a Pennsylvania State University psychology professor, on July 21.

U.S. Rep. Sander Levin, who is running to represent Berkley and Huntington Woods in the 9th Congressional District, recently remarried.

Ferndale Mayor Dave Coulter conducted the ceremony on July 21 between Levin and Pamela Cole, a Pennsylvania State University psychology professor, the Detroit Free Press reports.

Cole, a widow, met Levin while working with his late wife Vicki on a National Institutes of Health panel, according to the Free Press. After Vicki Levin passed away in 2008, Cole and Rep. Levin established an award fund in her name for young professionals working on child development, the newspaper reports.

"I don’t think it was something expected but we had a lot of common interests and we both suffered severe loss," the Democrat told the Free Press. "It was a combination of shared memories and shared love."

Levin, who now lives in Royal Oak, moved to Berkley in 1958 and, with his former wife, raised four children in the city.

The incumbent will face Macomb County businessman , a Republican, in November's election.
