Stash It, Don't Trash It: Holiday Delays Garbage Collection

Huntington Woods will ticket homeowners who leave rubbish at the curb during the long Fourth of July weekend.

Trash collection will be delayed by one day in Berkley and Huntington Woods due to the Fourth of July holiday.

Collection will occur Wednesday in Huntington Woods and residents have been warned not to place any waste at the curb before 4 p.m. Tuesday.

"The City takes great pride in its appearance for all of our 4th of July festivities," reads a notice on Huntington Woods' website. "Absolutely no trash should be at curbside for the long holiday weekend. Tickets will be issued."

The penalties for violating Ordinance 30-25, which covers : $50 for the first infraction, $150 for the second and $500 or a court appearance for the third.

Trash pickup also will be delayed in Berkley, where collection will take place Wednesday and Saturday, instead of Tuesday and Friday as usual.
