Preview: Huntington Woods City Commission to Make Appointments

A special session will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday to interview candidates for vacancies on boards, commissions and committees, with appointments on the agenda for the regular meeting that starts at 7:30 p.m.

The Huntington Woods City Commission will convene at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at after a special 6 p.m. session to interview and discuss candidates for vacancies on boards, commissions and committees.

Appointments will be made during the regular meeting, during which the following items also will be addressed:

  • Expressing condolences to the family of Huntington Woods resident , who passed away this month at the age of 92.
  • Recognizing Roger Boelio for his service to the city.
  • A presentation by Huntington Woods Men’s Club President Rick Kagen.
  • Expressing opposition to House Bill No. 5039 (see attached PDF), which would prevent local governments from protecting members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities from discrimination under local civil rights ordinances.
  • Authorizing a stop sign on eastbound Ludlow at Huntington based on a report from the Traffic Improvement Association of Oakland County.
  • Adopting a citywide credit card usage policy, as during the city's 2010-11 fiscal year audit.
  • Authorizing a new agreement with the city of Berkley to provide dispatch services effective July 1. Berkley City Manager Jane Bais-DiSessa said in October that from the .
  • Discussing the Michigan Fireworks Safety Act and potential local regulation.
  • Amending portions of the city code regarding parking across sidewalks and landlord licensing.
  • Discussing the city ordinance regulating maintenance of vacant properties.
  • Authorizing an agreement with Aqua Group LLC for cleaning a 12-inch storm sewer on Coolidge Highway.

The meetings are open to the public, and there will be opportunities for citizen comments.
