Preview: City Commission to Draw Recyclebank Prizes, Authorize Appeal in Coolidge Highway Suit and More

The Huntington Woods City Commission will convene at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at , with green topics a major part the agenda.

The agenda includes the following items:

  • Recognizing the committee for its contributions to the city. Race entry fees and donations, along with proceeds from the , covered the $13,500 price tag for held over . More than 400 runners and walkers took part in Run/Walk BOOM!!!, which was held June 30.
  • A presentation by Sheila Vanfield from the Southeast Michigan Regional Energy Office on energy audits available to residents through the Better Buildings for Michigan Program. The complete, 3-hour audits will be offered for $100, according to manager Claire Galed.
  • A prize drawing for residents who have registered for the national , which could bring in $100,000 for sustainable projects in the city. "The first name drawn (Tuesday) will get $200 off their water bill; second and third, $100 and $50 off their water bills respectively," according to Galed. "In addition, there will be seven additional gift cards awarded."
  • Authorizing city attorneys to appeal in which a $700,000 award to the city was reversed.
