Preview: City Commission to Approve Fireworks Show, Discuss Pending Litigation

Huntington Woods officials will end Tuesday meeting in a closed session to discuss next steps after the Michigan Court of Appeals reversed its verdict in the case surrounding previous construction on Coolidge Highway.

will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, discussing a variety of issues, including appointments to various boards, selection for city auditors and filling a vacancy on the Planning Commission.

Several other items of business will also be covered. Here’s a look at highlights from the agenda:

  • Bids will open at 2 p.m. Tuesday for voter-approved general obligation bonds for street improvements.
  • Appointing City Manager Alex Allie to the South Oakland County Resource Recovery Authority (SOCCRA) Board for the fiscal year beginning July 1. Claire Galed’s appointment to the Southeastern Oakland County Water Authority (SOCWA) Board will also be voted on.
  • City Commission will vote to adopt the Woodward Avenue Task-Oriented Development Corridor Study for Huntington Woods, along with surrounding communities.
  • The fireworks contract with Colonial Fireworks Co.,  for the will also be discussed.

City Commission will close the meeting by calling into order a private meeting. This executive session will allow commission members and the city attorney to discuss pending litigation surrounding the previous repaving of Coolidge Highway.
