Preview: City Commission Meeting to Talk Finances and Huntington Woods Events Tonight

Huntington Woods Volunteer Week and the 2012-2013 city budget are both on the agenda.

The Huntington Woods City Commission will meet at 7:30 p.m. tonight at .

The bulk of the meeting will focus on financial matters, such as city budget and deficit reduction, but two community events are up for discussion: Proclaiming the week of April 15 as Volunteer Week in Huntington Woods, and the Mastocytosis Society holding the fifth annual Walk-A-Thon on Oct. 7.

The meeting is open to the public and there will be opportunities for citizen comments, too.

The agenda will also include the following matters:

  • Receiving comment from Armitage Collision regarding the proposed Special Assessment in the amount of $19,274.91 for removal of underground storage tanks and related contamination in accordance with appropriate laws.  This was a matter deferred from the last commission meeting on March 20.
  • Consideration of resolution calling for a Balanced Approach to Deficit Reduction.
  • Setting the fee schedule for implementation of Ordinance No. 547 regarding vacant property.
  • Accepting bid and authorizing a contract for the reconstruction of Coolidge Highway to DiPonio Contracting  Inc., from Shelby Township. The contract is for just more than $1.8 million.  
  • Receipt and discussion of the 2012-2013 city budget.
