Preview: Berkley City Council to Discuss Dispatch Services, SMART Contract, 'Turn the Towns Teal' Campaign

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at City Hall.

The Berkley City Council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at .

Among the items that will be discussed are the following:

  • Authorizing Mayor Phil O'Dwyer to execute a contract between Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART) and the city of Berkley to provide public transportation services through June 30, 2013.
  • Authorizing the "Turn the Towns Teal" campaign during September in Berkley for Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. "Turn The Towns Teal is a campaign to promote awareness of ovarian cancer and its silent symptoms," according to its website. "Volunteers tie ribbons throughout town centers and hand out symptom cards."
  • Approving dispatch services to the cities of Pleasant Ridge and Huntington Woods.

The meeting is open to the public and there will be opportunities for citizen comments. It also is available to view live on the city's website.
