On the Agenda: City Council to Honor Public Works Director, Swear in Officers

Officials to consider variety of issues at meeting at 7 p.m. today in City Hall.

The  meets on a variety of matters tonight, including retirements, appointments, the Woodward Dream Cruise and more.

Council is to begin tonight's meeting by recognizing Department of Public Works Director Bruce Jerome, who is retiring. Berkley hired Jerome on Jan. 27, 2004, from the city of Novi. Jerome retires with nearly 40 years of combined experience in Public Works.

Also on the agenda, the will swear in new officers, including:

  • new Public Safety Officer Kurt Corradi
  • Robert Beatty, who takes the oath of office for his promotion to Public Safety Sergeant
  • new Public Safety Officer Scott Smith, after approval of contractor agreement for the period of July 25, 2011-July 31, 2012.

Several appointments also will be made during the meeting, including:

  • Richard Bacholzky to the Tree Board
  • Scott Emerson to the Board of Canvassers
  • Jennifer Baranski to the Planning Commission.

  • , which is applying for outdoor sales from 4-10 p.m. Aug. 19

  • , 2-10 p.m. Aug. 19 and noon-10 p.m. Aug. 20.

Other items on the agenda include:

  • the approval of a contract with Salem Design to demolish 3275 Tyler.

  • authorization of the participation in the 2011 Tri-Party Program for road improvements with the city’s share to be $4,818. The funds will be allocated for the ADA Sidewalk and Traffic Signal improvement project at the intersection of Greenfield and Webster.

  • City Council meets at 7 tonight at .
