The invites the public to join a moderated discussion at 6 p.m. Monday on on how Gov. Rick Snyder's planned budget cuts and Proposal A will affect cities and schools.
Under Snyder’s 2012 budget plan, K-12 schools face a $470 per pupil reduction that would save the state $452.5 million.
But, administrators say that, coupled with increased health care and retiree costs, per-pupil cuts likely would run closer to $900. Superintendent Michael Simeck has warned that could mean the elimination of programs, fewer teachers and larger class sizes.
