Berkley Construction at 12 Mile and Coolidge to Begin This Week

Here's a look at detour information and important details on the start of the 12 Mile-Coolidge reparation project.

The week has arrived when the construction project to repave the 12 Mile and Coolidge intersection in Berkley will begin.

Starting this week, detours around the busy intersection will go into effect through a majority of the summer. All traffic will be rerouted to major roads.

The work is expected to be wrapped up in time for the Woodward Dream Cruise activities in August, according to City Manager Jane Bain-DiSessa.

“Everything depends on the weather. The construction will begin either Monday or Tuesday morning,” she explained. “Monday they will be working to get everything in order and prepared.”

One of the most crucial points of the project is that businesses at the intersection will remain open, though the intersection will not. This includes businesses such as  and . to discuss how to keep business flowing during the construction.

“I can assure you that we are doing our best to be prepared,” Bais-DiSessa said. “We feel we are ready for the project and we’ve done everything we can to ensure it goes as smoothly as possible for businesses.
