City Council Agenda: DTE Outage Presentation, Public Safety Contract and More

The second reading of an ordinance that would rezone property near Vinsetta Garage to make way for a parking lot and a date for the annual Holiday Lights Parade also will be discussed Monday night at City Hall.

The Berkley City Council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at City Hall.

The following items are among those on the agenda.

  • Approval of an ordinance that would rezone 1010 Eaton, which is owned by Vinsetta Garage, from single-family residential district to parking district to make way for a parking lot to serve the restaurant. A first reading of the ordinance was conducted during the council's Oct. 1 meeting.
  • A report from DTE energy representative Mike Palchesko about power outages that have plagued the city since this summer.
  • A resolution that designates Saturday, Dec. 1, as the date for the annual Holiday Lights Parade and tree-lighting ceremony in Berkley.
  • Approval of a contractor agreement with Berkley Public Safety Director Richard Eshman for the period from Oct. 22, 2012, through Oct. 21, 2014. A similar agreement was approved for BPS Deputy Director Robert North in July. City Manager Jane Bais-DiSessa said that contract saved the city approximately $47,000.

The meeting is open to the public and there will be opportunities for citizen comments. It also is available to view live on the city's website.
