Missing Pontiac Man Found Riding His Bike in Berkley

William Robinson, who has Alzheimer's disease, told police he had been staying in abandoned houses.

A 62-year-old Pontiac man who had been missing since Friday was found Friday morning riding his bike near Woodward and 12 Mile Road in Berkley.

William Robinson Jr. was last seen leaving his home on his bike at about 6 p.m. Friday, family members told the . Robinson was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2009.

According to a news release from the sheriff's office, the Berkley Public Safety Department received a call around 10 a.m. today from a motorist who saw Robinson riding his bike and recognized his photo from news reports. Berkley police officers arrived on the scene, found Robinson and transported him to the police station, where he was reunited with his family.

Robinson told police he had been staying in abandoned houses and that he was riding his bike to Alabama.

"The Oakland County Sheriff's Office and Mr. Robinson's family wish to thank the Berkley Public Safety Department for their quick response," the news release stated.
