Michigan Man's Lesson: When You Really Need to Go, Don’t Go There

A restroom pit stop at a Pittsfield Township public safety building proved to be a bad move for a man firefighters suspected of being drunk – unless getting thrown in jail was his aim.

Here's a story for the "what was he thinking?" files:

An allegedly legally drunk Michigan man was arrested over the weekend after he drove to a police station in search of a bathroom.

The 66-year-old Livonia man reportedly walked into the Department of Public Safety building in Washtenaw County’s Pittsfield Township about 6:30 p.m. Sunday and asked to use the facilities, MLive/The Lansing Journal reports.

A township firefighter thought the man might be drunk and, sure enough, he failed field sobriety tests with a blood alcohol content that was above the .08 limit. After officials determined he had driven to the center, he was jailed, where he was to remain until he sobered up.

His name wasn’t immediately released. Washtenaw County officials are reviewing charges.
