Driver With Concealed Pistol Arrested After Running Red Light

A man was arrested Dec. 3 after running a red light and carrying a concealed pistol with an expired license, according to the Huntington Woods Public Safety Department.

The man was driving southbound on Woodward Avenue at 4:38 p.m. when he ran a red light at 11 Mile Road, according to a Huntington Woods Public Safety report. After being stopped, the driver handed the reporting officer his driver's license and a concealed pistol license; he said he was carrying a pistol and his vehicle was a rental, according to the incident report.

The driver told the officer he thought the light was yellow when he entered the intersection and did not see a pedestrian who was about to proceed across the cross-walk and quickly stopped as the driver ran the red light, the report said.

The reporting officer said he checked the driver's record and discovered his concealed pistol license was expired.

The man was arrested, a citation issued and his car impounded, according to the report. He was given a court date and released, the report said.
