Man Gives False ID to Police; Woman Arrested on Marijuana Charges

The following information was provided by the Canton Township Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Canton Township Police were on patrol Dec. 6 at Michigan Avenue by Interstate 275 when officers stopped a vehicle after noticing an expired plate on a white van, according to a police report.

When police stopped the vehicle, police detected what smelled like marijuana, the report said. Police noticed a passenger smoking a cigarette in the rear of the van.

The passenger told police he didn’t have identification, and when he told police his name, he provided the name of someone revealed by police computer systems to be a 300-pound man with a neck tattoo. According to the report, the passenger did not have a tattoo on his neck.

Police asked the man how many warrants he had under his real name and he said one, then provided police his real identity, the report said.

Police found the man had three warrants out of Canton, Wayne County and Washtenaw County, according to the report.

Another passenger, a woman, had warrants for Washtenaw County on a larceny charge.

When police asked the woman to leave the vehicle, they noticed her reaching to obscure something in the vehicle, the report said.

When police searched the vehicle, they found a chrome pipe used for smoking marijuana near where the woman had reached, the report said.

The male passenger told police the woman pulled the pipe out of her purse, put four “roaches” in it and the two started smoking it, the report said.

Police arrested the woman on charges of possession of paraphernalia.

Another huge dent in the criminality of our country. Joke. Cops are stupid, and are the reason that there is violence associated with illegal substances. More people use now than when the war began. Wasted money, enough to give jobs to many in need. Enough to pay our debt. Enough to fix our roads. The amount of revenue wasted is just dumbfounding. Thus is the reason that the citizens have and must rectify this travesty.

Let's stop ruining the future of our young people and the fabric of our families over this hopelessly outdated law. Glamorously marketed alcohol does horrific harm to society in comparison to this lazy weed. This law was founded on racism, yellow journalism and a nasty capitalist bent designed to secure profits for the lumber industry. Go reference the Marijuana Tax Act of 1937. The only thing it does now is bring money to the city coffers in exchange for the ruination of many lives. I don't agree that cops are stupid. I do know that there are federal grants that get paid to state and local law enforcement for making these arrests. Even cops do know better... go look and see: http://www.leap.cc/

So if cops aren't stupid, they are insane constantly banging their heads against a wall to thick to break with a jackhammer. They are usually without at least a bachelors degree, but they have the power to ruin lives. The simple act of becoming a police officer is a trade off. Power v safety. How can a person who had people who love them become a pig? I guess arresting people is more appealing than coming home safely to a family who needs them. Of course not every cop is with family, but probably had people who want them around and love them. It is a selfish occupation. I'm sure i will heart some ding dong support them and their dedication to service, but all yourself why someone would truly chose this occupation. Of you have every dealt with the piggies, you will know that justice is rarely sought truthfully. Cops lie, I have seen it firsthand many times. Spend some time researching court documents from drug cases. Realize that the supreme court has allowed these lies. What is intelligent about taking shortcuts and lying? If these jerks had any intelligence, they wouldn't even do this work. They would get a real job that actually pays well and keeps them out of danger. No, cops aren't stupid. They are worse.

Never mind the fact that both subjects had warrants out for other crimes, right?

Is that how we find those who have skipped there court dates. The mere fact that these people had several outstanding warrants and were only apprehended due to their own stupidity speaks volumes about law enforcement.
