Bicyclist Remains Hospitalized After Collision With Car in Berkley

remains hospitalized and an investigation into the accident is ongoing, a official said Monday.

A Berkley resident in his late 50s was biking southbound on Coolidge Highway when the accident occurred at approximately 4 p.m., BPS Deputy Director Robert North said Monday. While there are witnesses to the collision's aftermath, no one has come forward yet to say they saw how the crash transpired, North said.

Coolidge Highway was closed at the accident site Friday so officials could study the scene and the investigation is continuing, he said.

The bicyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was transported to Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, where he remains hospitalized, North said. Information on the man's condition was unavailable Monday and North said he could not release further details due to the ongoing investigation.
