Berkley Bans Overnight Parking Near Parks

Signs that indicate the prohibition between 2 and 6 a.m. were erected last week to keep spaces clear for events, as well as for snow disposal during major storms, the Public Safety Department says.

Berkley has banned overnight parking in spaces reserved for public parks, according to the Public Safety Department.

Signs that indicate parking is not allowed between 2 and 6 a.m. were erected last week to keep spaces clear for visitors to the city's parks, as well as for snow disposal in the event of major storms, Public Safety Deputy Director Robert North said.

North said the department has received complaints from neighbors about people using the spaces to park boats, semi-cabs and extra cars for extended periods.
