Berkley Armed Robbery Suspect Sought

A woman was physically unharmed but her purse was taken by a man wearing a dark, hooded shirt early Thursday outside the Blarney Stone Pub.

The Berkley Public Safety Department is investigating an armed robbery early Thursday morning outside the Blarney Stone Pub.

The victim was physically unharmed but her purse was taken by a man wearing a dark, hooded shirt, BPS Detective Sgt. Michael Crum said Friday.

"(The suspect was) parked on Princeton around 1 a.m.," he said. "If anybody saw anything suspicious, they should contact us."

Crum could not immediately release further details because of the ongoing investigation.

Manager Bo Burton said he can't recall a similar incident since he began working at the Blarney Stone in 1995.

"Everybody's OK, which is the best thing," he said. "You just worry now: Are people going to be scared to come out? And it's all just because of one idiot. It's not the kind of thing that happens in Berkley. You know what I mean?"
