Armed Robbery in Berkley Under Investigation

'We're looking at the possibility this is not a random act,' Public Safety Deputy Director Robert North said Tuesday. No one injured in the Monday night incident.

The is investigating an armed robbery that occurred Monday night on Greenfield Road near Webster, BPS Deputy Director Robert North confirmed Tuesday.

At approximately 9 p.m., the suspects talked their way into a resident's home, which they ransacked before leaving with stolen items, North said. No one was injured in the incident, he said.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office was called upon to provide K-9 tracking after the robbery, but the search was fruitless, according to an incident report.

"At this point, we're looking at the possibility this is not a random act," North said. "The investigation is continuing."

North said he would have no further comment on the case Tuesday afternoon.

While the Berkley Public Safety Department is exploring the possibility that the robbery was not a random act, North offered some safety precautions for residents.

"Residents should always put their lights on after dark, lock their doors and call the police if someone comes to the door who makes them uncomfortable," he said.
