ec·lec·tic refers to a person who derives ideas, style, or taste from a broad and diverse range of sources. This can be anything from an eclectic taste in music; an eclectic approach to managing the economy or an eclectic home or office. For me it’s the spirit of free flowing, artsy, unrestrained and without rules ideals. With regards to interior design, it mixes styles that make up one individualized look and style.
Within interior design circles today the word “eclectic” is the hottest and most sought after looks. In years past where formalities took over the living room, today’s informal lifestyles and confident consumers are filling their homes with things they love.
Traditionally, Interior Designers have looked for things that went together when they put together a room. Now layering of varied, sometimes opposing design elements now are getting away from the matchi-poo syndrome and instead designers and customers are filling their rooms with things that make them feel good, items that carry sentimental value and are simply loved and enjoyed.
