Saturday at Berkley Days: Horseshoes, Pet Adoptions, Pancakes and More
The midway and beer tent are open late tonight as the community enjoys a beautiful day, food and fun.
The sounds of dogs barking and rides roaring welcomed patrons to Berkley Days on Saturday morning taking place around the .
The morning kicked off with a pancake breakfast sponsered by the inside the at 8 a.m. Then at 10 a.m. the day really went to the dogs with the start of the eighth annual pooch pageant in the Community Center. All the proceeds for the pageant went to benefit Last Day Dog Rescue based in Livonia, which saves shelter dogs and tries to find them new homes.
After the pageant, Last Day Dog Rescue set up outside the Community Center with crates full of 50 dogs available to be adopted by Berkley Days patrons through 4 p.m.

Next to the dogs, the horseshoe tournament was in full swing with players trying to get their throws as close to the stake as possible.
The craft show, used book sale and food booths drew crowds looking for a good find on the big ice rink. Just outside the rink, raffle tickets to benefit Berkley Hoops were being sold. The $600 grand prize ticket and other cash prize winning tickets will be pulled around 4 p.m. Sunday.
