Best of Easter 2012: Special Church Services, Egg Hunts and More

Here are ideas to celebrate Easter around the Berkley and Huntington Woods area this year.

Easter Sunday is right around the corner and there are all kinds of ways to celebrate right here in the community.

From special services to visits with the Easter Bunny, egg hunts to Easter bouquets by local florists, here’s a list to get you started:

  • Share Breakfast with the Bunny on Saturday at the . This event is for kids ages 3 years to fifth grade and two sessions are available: 9-10 a.m. and 10:30-11:30 a.m. The cost is $4 per person, which covers admission and breakfast.
  • Celebrate Easter with loved ones by sending the Easter Blooms Basket from  These spring arrangements are made by Berkley’s local florist and range in price from $40-$45. They can be ordered online 24 hours a day.
  • The Woodside Neighborhood Group is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at Jaycee Park in Berkley. This free community event is especially for kids ages 1-12 and will feature the egg hunt, prizes and crafts.
  •  will host The Sacred Triduum and all are invited to the special Easter services. For Holy Thursday on April 5, a 7 p.m. evening mass of the Lord’s Supper will be held. Also, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the Fr. Landry Center will run until midnight that night. Good Friday services run at 1:30 p.m. for the Celebration of the Lord’s Passion and at 7 p.m. for Stations of the Cross. Holy Saturday will be celebrated with a 10 a.m. Blessing of Easter Food and an 8 p.m. vigil, while Easter Sunday at La Salette will feature two Easter Mass services at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
  •  will host the 12th annual Community Easter Egg Hunt from 10:30 a.m.-noon April 7. Toddlers through fifth-grade students are welcome and other activities include raffles, face painting and pictures with the “Bunny.”
