Why Do You Think You Can’t Write a Great College Application Essay?

Many students lack confidence and experience when it comes to writing a college application essay. Wow's 10-step process teaches students how to write their essays and takes the fear out of writing.

I remember my student’s face last season after praising him for a well-written essay; he stared at me with his jaw wide open. He said no one had ever complimented his writing.

The first few sentences drew me in:

I had hiked 45 miles in three days with a 60-pound pack, and I was physically exhausted. I woke up on the fourth morning, and I wasn’t sure if I could do it again. My shoulders were throbbing, like somebody was punching me repeatedly.

His story showed determination and strong will. He wanted colleges to know he takes risks, finishes what he starts, and will get his work done no matter what, without excuses.

Why did he think he couldn’t write?

Like many students, he didn’t have much experience with this type of personal writing, and he lacked confidence. Through Wow’s 10-step process, he learned how to stand out in his college essay. But he didn’t just write it this way the first time. A Wow writing coach guided him through several drafts.

Time is running out if you want to get your applications in before the end of the year. Don’t wait till the last minute.
