Feet On The Street Tours for Social Workers‘Thinking Fresh About Detroit: Food Issues and Concerns’ Earns 5 Social Work CE credits

Participants will learn

more about local food banks/kitchen/pantries, current statistics and issues

regarding regional hunger, connecting the community to fresh food as a strategy

to reduce health problems, urban farming, food justice issues, the use of bridge

cards, food availability, and the buy local movement. Tour will include

presentations by Denise Leduc, Development Coordinator, Gleaners Community Food

Bank; Shane Bernardo, Outreach Coordinator, Capuchin Soup

Kitchen Earthworks Garden; Dan Carmody, President, Eastern Market

Corporation; Phil Jones, General Manager/Chef, Colors/Restaurant Opportunities

Center; and Jess Daniel, Director & Chief Enabler, FoodLab Detroit.

open to anyone interested in this topic.
